Hello, my name is Travis Cox and I am the
Co-Director of Sales Engineering for Inductive Automation.
Today we find that manufacturers continue to need value from their production facilities,
which is why manufacturing execution systems are so vital.
However, this is only part of the scenario. The disrupting evolution is about a complete
new way of thinking about operation that goes beyond MES.
Today, if you produce world class products without a streamline flow of information that
understands quality assurance data, you risk being out-of-market. It is all about a streamlined
process and you could NOT accomplish that through paper forms or with post processing
using applications outside of the process. You would experience poor timing on acquiring
information and besides high costs of data management, this will cause lazy reactions
to unforeseeable events, delays in time-to-market and, therefore, very poor customer satisfaction.
Ignition is a critical piece on this evolution because of its flexibility, capability of
execution and completeness of vision as a platform. It’s a platform to create any
kind of application driven by collecting and sharing data and it not only connects to the
factory floor but can provide a streamlined process with a single operator interface.
The novelty inside IoT and Big Data is in the new way of handling processes. Ignition
is based on the idea to be the foundation to handle everything that is INSIDE production
and AROUND production. Its flexibility, architecture and founding
technologies are the building blocks of a complete new way of thinking about Operations.
Ignition lets you build applications that support or automate Operations connecting
by one side machines to collect data and on the other with ERP to collect work orders
and feeding it with quality assurance data, maintenance requests, costs, quantity, process
data, routing, times and so on. That’s a key point that makes ignition different
